Gear Shaping

The Mitsubishi ST40 CNC gear shaper has a flexible guide system capable of handling helical gears up to 36° in either direction without the need of a helical guide. First Gear has experience shaping tough, hard to machine superalloys such as Inconel 718.

Lorenz CNC gear shapers generate internal or external gears and splines, spurs and helicals. Lorenz shapers are world renown for quality and accuracy.

One of the advantages of this machine is the CNC cutter head positioning. This feature allows us to rapid in and out of recessed internal diameters, reducing cycle times and also saving tooling costs when running prototype gears or gear shaping in smaller quantities.
